In his first year, Congressman Ross has cosponsored legislation that values human rights and the respect for democracy. For example, he recently cosponsored H.Res.134 which condemns the government of Iran for its state-sponsored persecution of its Baha’i minority and its continued violation of the International Covenants on Human Rights. This bill calls on the President and Secretary of State to work with the international community to condemn Iran’s continued violation of human rights. H.Res.134 also urges the President and Secretary to utilize all available measures, such as those available under the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act of 2010 and Executive Order 13553, to sanction Iranian government officials and other individuals directly responsible for human rights violations in Iran.

On a different note, Rep. Ross supported H.Res.173, which amends Rule XXI (Restrictions on Certain Bills) of the Rules of the House of Representatives to make it out of order to consider any bill or joint resolution that appropriates foreign assistance for more than one country.
