FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Washington, D.C. – The Modernizing Foreign Assistance Network (MFAN) is pleased to announce that they have received a significant grant from the grant-making organization Open Philanthropy. With this new support, MFAN will expand its education and advocacy work to drive bipartisan policy solutions to increase the effectiveness and accountability of U.S. international assistance.
Open Philanthropy is dedicated to maximizing impact through evidence-based giving. Their commitment to improving global well-being aligns closely with MFAN’s mission to make U.S. foreign assistance more effective, accountable, and responsive to those it is intended to serve.
“MFAN has long championed bipartisan efforts to make U.S. development and humanitarian aid even more impactful, and this support from Open Philanthropy comes at a pivotal moment,” said Tod Preston, Executive Director of MFAN. “This funding will help MFAN expand our work with Congress to advance common-sense measures and rebuild the United States’ programming capabilities in the wake of the dramatic changes over the last several months.”
“Open Philanthropy’s support is a testament to the importance of MFAN’s work, especially now in the current environment. This grant will boost our engagement with policymakers on both sides of the aisle to advance practical reforms that enhance the impact of development,” said Lester Munson, Co-Chair of MFAN.
Since its founding in 2008, MFAN has served as a leading voice for foreign assistance modernization and reform in Washington, DC, regardless of changing political landscapes or shifts in leadership in Congress or the White House. MFAN works to advance a variety of aid effectiveness policy measures in areas such as evidence-based decision making and data transparency; locally led solutions and country ownership; aid systems and structures; innovation and private sector engagement; and development finance.
